Miguel Deras – Unified Police Department of Greater Salt Lake

In 2018, Officer Miguel Deras was assigned to investigate the extortion case of University of Utah student Lauren McCluskey. Deras showed explicit photos, provided by McCluskey as evidence, to at least three male officers without a work-related reason. This misconduct was confirmed by an independent investigation in 2020. Deras resigned from the department before the investigation’s findings were publicly released.
