Miles DeYoung – Custer County Sheriff’s Office

Deputy Miles DeYoung was involved in the January 2022 incident where a 16-year-old runaway girl was found with two middle-aged men. Alongside Deputy Michael Kear, DeYoung assisted in restraining the girl and was present during the use of a Taser on her while she was handcuffed. The lawsuit filed in January 2024 alleges that DeYoung failed to intervene to prevent the unlawful use of force. DeYoung is no longer employed with the Custer County Sheriff’s Office.
