Sergeant Naomi Campbell, a correctional supervisor at Worcester County Jail, was named in the 2021 federal lawsuit over the in-custody suicide of Kyle Arthur. Campbell met with Arthur on the morning of his detention while he was in opioid withdrawal. She informed him the jail had a detox protocol but no methadone treatment, and her report noted that Arthur was ‘doing fine’ afterward. The lawsuit claims Campbell failed to recognize Arthur’s serious withdrawal distress and took no action to prevent his suicide risk. Arthur took his life later that day, and the suit alleges Campbell’s inaction violated his civil rights.
