Odette Akers – Marion County Sheriff’s Office

In January 2020, former officer Akers was charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult after allegedly hitting a patient with autism while working as an in-home nursing aide. The charge stemmed from an incident on October 13, 2019. Akers denied the allegation, and the charges were dropped in November 2020. In April 2021, she filed a lawsuit against the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, claiming wrongful arrest without probable cause, gross negligence, false imprisonment, slander, and negligent supervision. The lawsuit was settled in May 2023 for $100,000.
