Officer Benjamin Harris – Arizona Counter Assault Team

In August 2024, Officer Harris was involved in the arrest of Tyron Scott McAlpin, a deaf Black man, in Phoenix. Body camera footage showed Harris punching McAlpin and using a Taser during the arrest. Harris testified that the situation could have been avoided if McAlpin had indicated he was deaf. The incident is under investigation by the department’s internal affairs unit.
