Officer Bonita Bourke – Sussex County Sheriff’s Office

In November 2014, attorney Bonita Bourke alleged that a Sussex County Sheriff’s Officer placed a handheld metal-detecting wand up her skirt while she was passing through jail security. The incident reportedly occurred in August 2014 when Bourke was visiting a client at the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility in Newton. Bourke filed a lawsuit claiming that the officer placed the wand between her legs and moved it upward under her skirt, repeating the action after instructing her to spread her legs.
