In June 2016, a Wetumpka Police Department officer arrested Keith Golden, a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant, for video recording the exterior of the police department from a public sidewalk. The officer seized Golden’s camera and stated, ‘I don’t care about your First Amendment rights.’ Golden was charged with ‘Interference with Public Safety Communication,’ a felony, but a grand jury declined to indict him. Golden filed a civil rights lawsuit alleging First and Fourth Amendment violations. ([aclualabama.org](https://www.aclualabama.org/en/cases/golden-v-city-wetumpka-et-al?utm_source=openai))
