Officer Robert Iovanna – Branford Police Department

In August 2022, Officer Iovanna was assigned to investigate a report that Michael Mollow had homicidal ideations towards Caroline Ashworth and owned firearms. Iovanna failed to conduct a comprehensive risk assessment, did not pursue seizure of Mollow’s weapons, and placed the report on inactive status without thorough investigation. His report omitted critical information about Mollow’s threats and firearm ownership. Following an internal investigation, Iovanna was found to have violated several departmental general orders and received a 30-day suspension without pay.
