Officer Rodney Van Faussien – Norfolk Police Department

In September 2020, Officer Rodney Van Faussien was involved in an incident where he allegedly conspired to falsify an accident report to retaliate against Brandon Williams, who had previously exposed another officer’s perjury. After Williams was seriously injured in a car accident, Van Faussien and other officers allegedly misrepresented facts on the accident report to minimize the incident and deflect blame from the at-fault driver. The Fourth Circuit Appeals Court later stripped immunity from the officers involved, allowing Williams’ claims of First Amendment retaliation and intentional infliction of emotional distress to proceed.
