Officer Self – Oneonta Police Department

In 2022, Officer Self was involved in an incident where he detained a man named Trucks without probable cause. During the encounter, Self pointed his firearm at Trucks, ordered him to the ground, and handcuffed him, causing alleged pain due to Trucks’ recent shoulder surgery. The police report contained inaccuracies, including false claims about the time of the encounter and the suspect’s behavior. A lawsuit was filed against Officer Self and the City of Oneonta, alleging unlawful detention and use of excessive force.
