Paul Oliveira – New Bedford Police Department

Former New Bedford Police Chief Paul Oliveira was investigated by the FBI in at least three probes into alleged informant-related misconduct over the last three decades. Despite these investigations, Oliveira was promoted to police chief in 2021. Under his leadership, the department faced multiple instances of officer misconduct related to the misuse of confidential informants, with little to no disciplinary action taken.
