Richard Reigenborn – Adams County Sheriff’s Office

In January 2025, a federal jury awarded $5 million to four former Adams County deputies who were wrongfully terminated by former Sheriff Richard Reigenborn. The jury found that Reigenborn violated the First Amendment when he fired the deputies after winning the 2018 sheriff’s election because they supported his opponent. The lawsuit stated that Reigenborn terminated the employees from their positions after learning they supported his opposition in the 2018 race.
