Former Captain Ronnie Dimler filed a lawsuit alleging that he was passed over for promotion to Major in favor of less experienced officers as part of a diversity initiative. Dimler claimed he was reassigned to road patrol as a shift captain without explanation. The City of Miramar settled the lawsuit in 2022, paying Dimler $150,000 without admitting liability.
