Sara Laudano – Norwalk Police Department

Former Officer Sara Laudano resigned in October 2021 after being caught drinking and driving while on duty. Between October 8 and 9, 2021, Laudano and colleague Michael DiMeglio consumed alcohol in their police cruisers, ignored calls for service, and were later found in a hotel room together. Laudano was also accused of driving with a baby and a civilian in the cruiser after consuming alcohol and using a THC vape pen, leading to a charge of risk of injury to a minor. Both officers were charged with second-degree larceny and second-degree reckless endangerment in January 2021, later pleading guilty to lesser charges. The Police Officer Standards and Training Council decertified Laudano, determining she had ‘betrayed the public trust.’

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
