Sergeant N. Mines – Mingo County Sheriff’s Department

In June 2022, Sergeant N. Mines was involved in the detention and questioning of Robert and Michelle Daniels at Matewan City Hall. The Daniels were Mirandized and interviewed by West Virginia State Police Sergeant Cory Maynard and Mingo County Sheriff’s Department officers Allen Mounts and Roger Fitch. Following the interviews, the Daniels were charged as accessories after the fact, despite West Virginia Code § 61-11-6 specifically excluding parents from the class of persons capable of being accessories after the fact. The charges were ultimately dropped, leading to a civil rights lawsuit filed by the Daniels against Mines and other officers, alleging wrongful arrest and other violations.

Important Community Guidelines

It is strictly against our rules to:

  • Make threats of any kind
  • Share private information such as personal emails, home addresses, or phone numbers

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
