In January 2023, Sgt. Brian Keen, in plain clothes, confronted 70-year-old Mick Heikkola outside the Kuna Police Department after Heikkola looked into police vehicles. Keen aggressively questioned Heikkola without identifying himself as law enforcement. This led to Heikkola’s wrongful arrest and a subsequent $250,000 settlement against Ada County. The incident prompted the Sheriff’s Office to implement new training protocols to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
