Sgt. Jerry Kennon – Nome Police Department

In 2019, Sgt. Jerry Kennon, a new investigator, discovered that numerous sexual assault cases dating back to at least 2005 were inadequately investigated or not investigated at all. Many reports lacked narratives, follow-ups, or evidence submissions. This negligence contributed to a legacy of mistrust between the Nome Police Department and the Alaska Native community.
