Sgt. Kivett – Marion County Sheriff’s Department

In February 2004, Sgt. Kivett authorized the release of inmate Mr. Carter from the Marion County Jail without verifying his status with the Plainfield facility, despite indications that he still had time to serve. This led to her termination for violations including non-compliance with rules, incompetent performance, and untruthfulness. She contested the termination, alleging she acted under orders from Lt. Crowe, but the department upheld the decision.
