Shane Nelson – Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office

Sheriff Shane Nelson was accused of gender discrimination and retaliation by Deputy Crystal Jansen. In 2016, Jansen filed a complaint alleging Nelson downgraded her performance reviews and blocked her from promotions. The lawsuit was settled in September 2021 for $527,000, with no admission of culpability.
