Shannon Michael Correll – Mohave County Sheriff’s Office

In 2012, former detention officer Shannon Correll was accused of sexually assaulting female detainees at the Mohave County Vanderslice Jail Substation. Two women filed a federal lawsuit alleging that Correll strip-searched and sexually assaulted them. Correll pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual conduct charges and was sentenced to prison. The lawsuit also named the county, Sheriff Tom Sheahan, and jail commander Bruce Brown, alleging failure to supervise Correll and that the substation jail was inappropriate for female detainees. The plaintiffs sought damages for unreasonable search and seizure, unlawful sexual conduct, assault and battery, infliction of emotional distress, and invasion of privacy.
