In 2018, Undersheriff Shawn Lesnik was investigated for allegations of intimidation, harassment, and campaigning while on duty during his campaign for sheriff. Complaints included reports of him confronting county employees over election signs and campaigning in uniform. Lesnik denied these allegations, stating that the complaints were attempts to defame his character. The Yellowstone County Attorney’s Office declined to file criminal charges, citing a lack of probable cause.
