Sheriff Adam Bieber – Shawano County Sheriff’s Office

In 2014, Sheriff Adam Bieber was involved in a series of incidents leading to allegations of retaliatory behavior against Detective Wudtke. After Wudtke campaigned against Bieber, Bieber initiated investigations into Wudtke’s conduct, including an unauthorized recording of a command meeting in January 2015. These actions led to Wudtke’s resignation in March 2015. Wudtke filed a lawsuit alleging First Amendment violations, claiming Bieber’s actions were retaliatory. The court found sufficient evidence to suggest Bieber engaged in adverse conduct against Wudtke, including initiating investigations and limiting his access to departmental resources. The case highlighted concerns about potential misuse of authority and retaliatory practices within the Sheriff’s Office.
