Sheriff Christopher West – Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office

In September 2024, Sheriff Christopher West was charged with harassment and obstructing governmental operations following an argument with County Commissioner Robert Harris regarding the relocation of sheriff’s investigators to the former Hayneville Town Hall. The charges accused Sheriff West of threatening commissioners and disrupting their voting. He pleaded not guilty, and the charges were dismissed in separate hearings by January 2025.
