In 2006, Sheriff Moore disciplined Corporal Randy D. Burgess by demoting him to Deputy and reducing his pay for alleged insubordination and failure to report to work. The disciplinary action was contested due to the lack of a predisciplinary hearing, leading to legal proceedings that resulted in a reversal and remand for further proceedings.
