Sheriff Daniel – West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office

In 2000, Sheriff Daniel was found to have acted with deliberate indifference to the known suicide risk of detainee Jacobs. Despite being aware of her previous suicide attempt and ongoing risk, he placed her in a cell with tie-off points and a blind spot, and ordered that she be given a blanket and towel, which she used to hang herself. This conduct was deemed objectively unreasonable, leading to the denial of qualified immunity for Sheriff Daniel in his individual capacity.

Important Community Guidelines

It is strictly against our rules to:

  • Make threats of any kind
  • Share private information such as personal emails, home addresses, or phone numbers

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
