Sheriff Ramon Pineiroa – Nelson County Sheriff’s Office

In March 2025, Sheriff Ramon Pineiroa was indicted on multiple felony charges, including abuse of public trust and theft by deception. The indictment followed allegations that he retaliated against deputies who reported illegal activities within the department. Specifically, after deputies reported that Chief Deputy Brandon Bryan had illegally sold seized vehicles, Pineiroa allegedly removed them from their DEA task force assignments and restricted their overtime opportunities. These actions led to a whistleblower lawsuit and subsequent criminal charges against Pineiroa.
