Steve Benson – Muscle Shoals Police Department

In April 2016, Officer Steve Benson was involved in an incident where he allegedly used excessive force against Cheryl Jarmon-Goodman. Benson, along with other officers, reportedly entered Jarmon-Goodman’s home without knocking, used a Taser on her multiple times, and kicked her while she was handcuffed. A lawsuit was filed against Benson and other officers, alleging violations of constitutional rights and state-law torts. The case highlighted issues of excessive force and improper conduct within the department.
