In May 2021, multiple Nogales Police officers were involved in the shooting death of Glen Ray Cockrum Jr., a truck driver experiencing a mental health crisis. Officers fired 122 rounds into his vehicle in under 90 seconds, leading to a federal lawsuit alleging excessive force and failure to de-escalate the situation.
