Unidentified Officers – North Charleston Police Department

In May 2020, three North Charleston police officers faced disciplinary actions following an investigation into the use of force during an encounter with Joshua Lewis. Video footage showed officers slamming Lewis against a wall while he was handcuffed. The department determined that the officers acted inconsistently with departmental policy, leading to disciplinary measures and mandatory enrollment in a critical incident training program.
