Written by On August 24, 2024, a McCone County deputy, working under contract with Valley County, was involved in a critical incident on Montana Highway 117. The deputy encountered an adult male and female arguing outside their vehicle. The male brandished a handgun and fired at the deputy, who then deployed his taser on the female and subsequently used his duty handgun on the advancing male. The male died on scene, and the female was transported for medical treatment. The deputy was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
