In 2011, Officer Mendoza was involved in multiple incidents leading to her decertification. She was untruthful during an AZ POST interview and a City of St. Johns Personnel Board hearing. While off-duty at a public nightclub, she assaulted a uniformed Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputy who was working an off-duty assignment. Additionally, she brought a handcuffed subject to an isolated location after determining there was not enough evidence for an arrest and proceeded to touch and kiss her. Mendoza provided material false statements to the Federal Bureau of Investigations and continued to detain the subject after deciding there was insufficient evidence for an arrest. Her certification was revoked on April 17, 2013.
